Suspiria and the Italians haven't let me go yet. Here's what I found back to the previous post.

Argento wrote the script for the first part of the trilogy with Daria Nikolodi.
The granddaughter of a famous medium, she suggested using as a basis the story of her occult grandmother, who ran away from a private music school at the age of fifteen, where, in addition to playing the piano, students were introduced to the laws of black magic, and in later life became interested in white magic. Nikolodi also told the director the legend of three ancient powerful witches, she saw something similar in her dreams. Daria Nikolodi herself has been interested in the occult since childhood. Daria started performing on stage at the age of 14, and at 17 she ran away from home.
